In the morning drive to Debra Libanos Monastery lying 110 km north of Addis Ababa. Visit the 13th century monastery founded by Abuna (father) Tekle Haimanot. Visit the interior of the church, which is adorned with beautiful stained glasses reflecting biblical history. Also visit a collection of religious relics in the church museum. Visit a cave which is the integral part of the monastery and contains a spring whose water is considered holy.
Proceed to Jemma valley and enjoy the breath-taking scenery and cataracts of waterfalls created by Jemma River. Visit the endemic Gelada Baboon from close distance. Hike around and pause at the ruin of the so-called “Portuguese bridge”. Finally drive back to Addis Ababa through the fertile Selale plateau, the land of the hospitable and gracious local people. Transfer to the airport or your preferred location.
